President Ram Chandra Poudel has issued the 'Special Arrangement for the Resignation of Public Officials Ordinance, 2083' on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.
With this step taken by the government led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah with the objective of strengthening administration and giving new momentum to the bodies of the state, a total of 1,594 officials who have received political appointments under various laws and structures will be resigned at once.
In this sequence, a total of 544 officials of the Ministry of Education and Universities have been resigned.
Under the Education Act, 2028, 23 people including the chairperson and members of various committees and the Teachers' Service Commission will be resigned.
According to the Nepal Sanskrit University Act, 2043, 28 people including the vice-chancellor and service commission officials, and 17 officials under the Technical Education and Vocational Training Council Act, 2045, will be resigned. 34 officials appointed under the National Youth Council Act, 2072, will also be resigned.
Under the Kathmandu University Act, 2048, 25 people including the vice-chancellor and registrar, and 84 officials including the vice-chancellor and service commission officials under the Tribhuvan University Act, 2049, will be resigned.
Under the University Grants Commission Act, 2050, eight people including the chairperson and members, and 69 officials including the vice-chancellor and registrar under the Purvanchal University Act, 2050, will be resigned.
Similarly, 50 people including the vice-chancellor and academic chief under the Pokhara University Act, 2053, and 44 officials including the vice-chancellor and registrar under the Lumbini Buddhist University Act, 2063, will be resigned.
27 people appointed under the Far Western University Act, 2067, and 26 officials under the Mid Western University Act, 2067, will also be resigned.
22 people under the Agriculture and Forestry Science University Act, 2067, 24 people under the Nepal Open University Act, 2073, 39 people under the Rajarshi Janak University Act, 2074, and 24 officials under the Madan Bhandari University Act, 2079, will be resigned.
