Bumper prize of Rs 1 million for a purchase of Rs 350, 16 daily winners also announced

Kathmandu. The government has announced the names of the winners under the second fortnightly 'Taxpayer Incentive Award' for the month of Shrawan. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle and Finance Secretary Dr. Ghanshyam Upadhyay announced the winners through a lucky draw at a program organized at the Ministry of Finance on Monday.

This time, a consumer won the bumper prize of Rs 1 million for a purchase of Rs 350. According to the Inland Revenue Department, the consumer became the bumper winner through the bill coupon number 026888979039 issued while purchasing goods from 'Ganesh Electronics and Mobile Center'. After tax deduction, he will receive Rs 750,000.

The department has stated that the bumper winner was selected from about 35 million transactions made from 16th to 31st of Shrawan.

Similarly, 16 daily winners have also been announced for the same period. The daily winner will receive a prize of Rs 133,334 each. After 25 percent tax deduction, they will have Rs 100,000 in their hands.

All the winners who have been announced must claim their prizes by the upcoming 16th Bhadra. There is a provision that the prizes may be cancelled if they are not claimed within the specified time.

The government has been running this scheme with the aim of developing the habit of consumers to take bills when purchasing goods and services and to encourage digital payments. Consumers who purchase goods and services through bank and wallet QR codes will automatically participate in the program. However, to receive the prize, the purchase bill must be kept safe. Consumers who purchase in cash, on the other hand, have been provided with a PAN or VAT bill after purchase and upload it on the website of the Internal Revenue Department to receive a coupon to participate in the gift scheme.
