Kathmandu – The government has distributed cash assistance of Rs 45,000 per family to 4,108 households across Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading districts that were directly affected by the Bhote Koshi floods.
The Prime Minister's Secretariat stated that the assistance—funded by the World Food Programme (WFP)—was distributed through a "one-door system" to prevent duplication of benefits. The funds were provided to flood-affected households identified in coordination with local government units.
So far, affected households across 11 local units—five in Rasuwa, four in Nuwakot, and two in Dhading—have received the cash assistance. The government is also preparing to distribute funds within three days to approximately 1,400 additional households whose data is currently pending verification.
On October 9 (Ashoj 23), a joint meeting of the monsoon response command posts from the central level and the three affected districts decided to streamline the identification of disaster-affected households, the verification of beneficiary data, and early recovery efforts.
As other development partners, including the Red Cross, also wished to provide cash assistance, the government has directed local units and relevant agencies to distribute aid in accordance with the "Disaster-Sensitive Social Security and Relief Distribution Standards, 2081."
The government has urged the concerned agencies to ensure that no single family receives duplicate benefits and that no genuinely affected household is left out during the distribution process.
Meanwhile, the government stated that efforts regarding the long-term rehabilitation and management of the flood-affected people have also been accelerated.
