Kathmandu. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology in Nepal has stated that the impact of Cyclone 'Arnab' will gradually begin to subside from tomorrow afternoon. According to the Department, light rain is currently occurring in most parts of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in some areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
The Department noted that 'Arnab'—which developed into a powerful cyclone in India—weakened into a low-pressure system as it entered Nepal; consequently, the resulting rain, snowfall, and wind have remained relatively mild.
According to the Department, the sky will remain mostly cloudy across the country this afternoon. There is a possibility of rain and snowfall in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as in the high-altitude (Himalayan) regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
The Department forecasts that some locations in the hilly and mountainous regions may experience moderate rain and snowfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. It is also expected that the sky will remain mostly cloudy across the country tonight, with the possibility of moderate to heavy rain and snowfall in some areas. According to the Department, the highest rainfall recorded over the last 24 hours was 50.2 millimeters in Roshi, Kavrepalanchok. During this period, light to moderate rainfall occurred in many parts of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.
