Kathmandu, 6 Shrawan: Representatives of the Nepal Handicrafts Association have stated that they are ready to cooperate with the government for the development, expansion, and protection of the handicrafts industry in Nepal. Prime Minister Valendra Shah had called them to the Prime Minister's and Council of Ministers' office for discussion today. During the discussion, the representatives of the association stated that they felt the current government has prioritized the handicrafts industry and are ready to cooperate with the government in any way. In this regard, Prime Minister Shah stated that the government is committed to handicrafts industry policy, art conservation, job creation, and handicrafts promotion. Similarly, Prime Minister Shah was positive about the demand of officials to form a handicrafts development board in the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
Similarly, Prime Minister Shah showed special interest in the issue of establishing a handicrafts village in the capital and opening a handicrafts-related CI training center in all seven provinces. The officials had made various demands, including the preservation of traditional CI art and the provision of identity cards to handicrafts workers. The discussion was attended by the president of the association, Ravindra Shaky, senior vice-president Rajman Bajracharya, vice-president Kiran Kumar Sthapit, advisor Vikas Ratna Dhakwa, and top exporter Maheshwar Shrestha.
