26 Vaisakh, Kathmandu. President Ramchandra Paudel has stated that the new generation should be able to benefit from the knowledge and skills of senior citizens in society.
He stated this while addressing the International Conference of Senior Citizens organized by the Manmohan Memorial Foundation on Saturday.
‘If the new generation can adopt the real practice of the work and activities done by the senior citizens through the curriculum or interaction, and if the willing and able-bodied senior citizens can be engaged in work and connected to production, I think arrangements should be made to ensure their representation in national policy-making and community-level activities,’ President Paudel said.
President Paudel also stated that Nepal's population is also gradually heading towards aging. ‘There are challenges in the country to provide employment to the youth and working population in their own country,’ he said, ‘In such a situation, I am confident that Nepal will also have the opportunity to learn from other countries for the effective and productive management of senior citizens.’
President Paudel suggested that the conference should be a bridge for the transfer of knowledge and skills between generations and the mixing of the previous and next generations according to the population situation.
